Doug Graham is a graduate naval architect and
marine engineer with years of past experience working for one of
the largest naval architectural firms of its day. His responsibilities
included performing calculations, studies and project engineering
related to all aspects of naval architecture including: stability,
structures, arrangements, weights, resistance, maneuvering and seakeeping—concept
through detail design. Doug also performed numerous surveys or ship
checks on naval and commercial vessels, which led to the engineering
of major repair or retrofit projects. Much of his work required
a working knowledge of USCG Code of Federal Regulations and ABS
Standards for ship design and construction.
Doug is a 2005 graduate of the United States Surveyors
Association’s course work on Marine Surveying, earning a certificate
for Master Marine Surveyor, Fishing Vessel Qualified. He holds a Surveyor Associate Membership from the Society of Accredited Marine Surveyors.
Doug has spent his entire life knocking around
boats on Long Island Sound and has extensive experience in their
operation and maintenance, both sail and power. He has been a member
of the Port Washington Yacht Club for 25 years, where he spends
countless hours in marine activities. Doug resides on the north
shore of Long Island in Great Neck, NY.
Doug holds a Bachelor of Science and Engineering
in Naval Architecture & Marine Engineering from the University
of Michigan and a Masters in Engineering—Ocean from Stevens
Institute of Technology.
